Dear Parents,
Thanks to all our families, and the support of our Church friends, the Trike-a-Thon we held last week was a wonderful success! Bike safety was emphasized, the children had a lot of fun riding in the Fellowship Hall gym, and we thank everyone who was able to collect donations for our FUMP Good Samaritan Fund.
The February Parent Seminar was very well-received by the parents who attended. The topic of “How to Short-Circuit Power Struggles” really hit a nerve! Our friend Bonnie Geary, a family therapist, led this discussion and gave us some good insights and strategies for coping with our growing children. There were a lot of smiles on faces at the end of the session. We are planning another parent discussion towards the end of the year to explore kindergarten readiness.
The Language & Speech Associates will be here on March 3, 4 & 5 to do individual screenings. These professionals create an enjoyable activity for each child, at the same time gathering invaluable information in helping to determine each child’s communication development and possible needs. There is no cost for this; it is included in your registration fee. You will receive their results and recommendations in a report mailed to you.
Did you know that we have a working Library at FUMP? You are welcome to stop in and peruse books to check out for your children, or bring them in to browse just before or after school hours. We also have some parenting books you may be interested in. Feel free to utilize our resources.
We want to remind you that there will no longer be Clubhouse on Monday afternoons beginning this month. We’ll have our spring pictures taken on Tuesday and Wednesday the 23rd & 24th. And your teachers will be letting you know about Parent-Teacher conferences in the next two months. Our Easter break, following LAUSD’s calendar, is the week just before Easter, March 29-April 2.
Planning has begun for a spring fundraiser at FUMP. We’ll have a FUMP evening with ice cream and games and maybe a silent auction. We have a parent committee that can certainly use more help, and if you would like to help with this event, please let me know!
Summer school dates are June 29 through August 5. We will have the registration forms available mid-month for you, but be sure to note these dates on your calendar. It’s not too early to start planning for the Fall, either, and you can pick up your Fall registration forms the week before Easter break.
