NOVEMBER
NEWSLETTER Dear Parents,
Thank you to everyone
who participated in the catalog fundraiser last month. (We will
add those proceeds to the fund for our next
special playground project.) We expect those items to arrive
and be distributed to you the week of Thanksgiving. We also appreciate
those of you who have purchased the Entertainment Book ($20)
and ongoing Scholastic Book orders. These small fundraisers
help us out with our budget.
Did you know that we
have a library? You may have noticed shelves full of books when
walking through the office to the yard. We are
grateful to parent volunteers Christine and Allison who have spent
several days on organizing and cataloging books for us, and have
it ready for moms who want to stop in (with or without their
children) to peruse and borrow books for children or parenting
books for themselves.
I’d like to remind
parents to please not use their cell phones while in the parking
lot and while dropping off and picking up
children. There have been some near-misses due to cell phone
use while driving, and we want you to be aware and pay attention
to the children especially around the school grounds.
Our Parent Seminar on “Setting Limits” was very well
received, and so we are looking forward to scheduling more of these
talks. Lots of good information was shared, and parents were given
direct answers to solve some issues. We hope you’ll plan
to come to the next one after the holidays.
Pizza Night at Casa
di Pizza is Tuesday, November 4 (after you VOTE!). Please note
that school will be closed on Tuesday, November
11 for Veteran’s Day – And we’ll be closed on
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week, November 26,
27 and 28.
Looking ahead to next
month, please mark your calendar for Wednesday, December 17
for our Christmas program! This is a change from usually
having it on Friday so we want to give you plenty of notice. We’ve
also scheduled a “Parent’s Night Out” for Friday,
December 5 and will send out a sign-up notice later this month.
Finally, during this
month until Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we will collect nonperishable
items to donate to the Guadalupe
Center,
a food pantry near our Preschool. Your children may want to bring
items to put in the collection box in their classrooms. In this
way we’ll be showing how we can share with others who are
in need.
We wish everyone a wonderful season of Thanksgiving!
Wendy
